AUBURN, Ala. – 5A championship game MVP Ameriol Finley knew when he transferred to Spanish Fort that his high school career would end in the championship game.

The South Alabama committment carried 37 times for 174 yards and two touchdowns against Briarwood Christian on Thursday.

“Where ever I was I expected to be here,” Finley said. “I am a hard worker and I prepare well.”

Finley will likely go down in Spanish Fort history for a fourth down play in the fourth quarter that set up his second touchdown. With 1-yard to go at the Briarwood 6, Finley leaped over a pile of Spanish Fort and Briarwood linemen to get the first down. He scored two plays later to ice the game for the Toros.

“I didn’t know what I was going to do to get that one yard, but I just knew I was going to get it,” Finley said, “I knew everybody was depending on me and I knew what I had to do.”
