PENSACOLA, Fla. — The National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola will host a Far Out Hubble Day event April 10, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., to highlight the IMAX film, “Hubble.” For hands-on experience, the Escambia Amateur Astronomers Association will be on hand with solar scopes and free sky charts.

Inside the museum, attendees will be able to sample space fare ranging from Neopolitan-style ice cream to strawberry astronaut food at the free tasting station, and get up close and personal with the museum’s space artifacts and exhibits such as the spacesuit worn by astronaut Gene Cernan, the last man on the moon. The U.S.S. Continuum will also be on hand, so be sure to bring a camera to get pictures with this costumed Star Trek/Sci Fi group.

“Hubble” offers viewers an inspiring, unique look into the Hubble Space Telescope’s legacy and highlights its profound impact on the way we view the universe and ourselves.

Narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio, the film explores the grandeur and mysteries of our celestial surroundings while enabling viewers to experience the gripping story full of hope, disappointment, bravery and triumph.

“Hubble” is shown on the giant, seven-story screen, the largest IMAX screen in Florida, daily at 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Ticket prices are $8.50 for adults and $8 for all active, reserve and retired military, seniors, Foundation members and kids, ages 5-12.

Also showing daily, “The Magic of Flight.”

The National Naval Aviation Museum features free admission and a full slate of events throughout the year.
