Imagine a serene Sunday afternoon with a glass of wine in hand, appetizers at your fingertips and the soothing melodies of Leonard Houston, Fairhope's own Music Man, filling the air and picturesque setting of Magnolia Springs.
Sounds like a wonderful evening, right?
This scene will come alive on Sunday, Oct. 27, from 4-6 p.m. at the inaugural "Meet 'Em in the Arboretum" event, set against the backdrop of the Magnolia Springs Arboretum.
This charming fall fundraiser is dedicated to revitalizing the beloved arboretum, a vital sanctuary that offers a tranquil escape amid an increasingly urbanized world. Earlier this year, a Gulf Coast Media article mentioned the Arboretum while highlighting lesser known nature havens in Baldwin County.
"In the heart of Magnolia Springs lies an arboreal oasis renowned for its botanical diversity and serene ambiance," the article stated. "...Amidst the cacophony of birdsong and the chatter of squirrels against the background of a babbling spring, the serene ambiance of the arboretum offers a respite from urban
However, the Magnolia Springs Arboretum, a treasured community landmark, has faced significant challenges over the years, particularly the damage wrought by Hurricane Sally. While revitalization of the Arboretum has been talked about before, the need for a complete refresh has become increasingly urgent.
In response, the Magnolia Springs Garden Club, in collaboration with the Town of Magnolia Springs, has launched a comprehensive restoration project. Kathryn McFadden of the Magnolia Springs Garden Club spoke with Gulf Coast Media about the event and the importance of the Arboretum to the community.
"We are so excited by the tremendous community support so far, and we can't wait to welcome everyone to our fall event," McFadden said.
Tickets for the "Meet 'Em in the Arboretum" event are priced at $35 and can be purchased at Magnolia Springs Pharmacy, Jesse's Restaurant, Page and Palette, Gulf Shores Rentals and Magnolia Springs Town Hall. The evening will feature a wine and cheese mixer and attendees will get a first look at the professionally created landscape plan designed by Chad Watkins of WAS Design in Foley. While the final implementation of the plan will still be in progress during the event, the presentation will offer a glimpse into the future of the arboretum.
The Town of Magnolia Springs has contributed significantly to the project, but the bulk of the funding falls on the Garden Club, making this fundraiser crucial. The event promises a delightful blend of community spirit, natural beauty and support for an essential cause.
Businesses interested in sponsoring the event can enjoy benefits such as event signage and social media promotion, with some sponsorship packages including tickets. Opportunities for sponsorship are still available, but interested parties are encouraged to act quickly to ensure inclusion.
