SPANISH FORT, Ala. - Reservations are now being accepted by Blakeley State Park for seating on the next boat tour of the Tensaw-Mobile Delta aboard the park’s Delta Explorer.
The boat tour Saturday leaves the Blakeley Park dock on the Tensaw River at 9:30 a.m. and returns at 11:30 a.m. The 50-passenger, covered pontoon boat sweeps north of the park deep into the Delta, noses into shallow waters, travels south to the Mobile Bay Causeway and loops back to the park.
The Delta Explorer captain and a Blakeley Park ranger crewmate narrate the tour, pointing out key wildlife sights along the route. Visitors are urged to bring cameras and binoculars.
The tour is on a first come-first served basis but passengers can reserve tickets in advance by calling 251-626-5581. Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for children 6 to 12, and free to children 4-5. All proceeds go to the operation of Blakeley Park.
Blakeley State Park is located on State Highway 225 about 4.5 miles north of its intersection with U.S. 31 at Spanish Fort. The dock is about a 10-minute drive through the park from the front entrance.
The Delta Explorer is also available for charter trips by groups. For more information about chartering and on upcoming trips later this fall, call 251-626-0798.
