The Fairhope Single Tax Corporation will sponsor its 2026 Lecture Series, a four-part program highlighting public safety, environmental stewardship, historic preservation and community service.

According to a news release, the free lectures will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month from January through April at the Fairhope Public Library, 501 Fairhope Ave.

The series opens Jan. 20 with a presentation by the Fairhope Police Department. Police Chief Stephanie Hollinghead will discuss community policing trends, the Citizen’s Police Academy, the Summer Camp for Middle Schoolers, the Narcan Program and other initiatives aimed at strengthening public safety and community engagement. More information about the department is available at www.FairhopeAL.gov/departments/police.

On Feb. 17, Clean Water Alabama will focus on the health of Mobile Bay and its incoming waterways, which play a critical role in the region’s environment and economy. The organization addresses pollution caused by industrial discharge and municipal overflows while promoting practical solutions to restore the bay. Clean Water Alabama also emphasizes youth education through activity books, coloring books and classroom materials distributed throughout Baldwin County schools to encourage long-term stewardship of Mobile Bay. Additional details can be found at www.CleanWaterAlabama.com.

The March 17 lecture will center on historic home renovation. Tina Powers, owner of Water & Wood Properties, will share the restoration story of the 1909 Schnitzer family home on Single Tax land, now known as the Fairhope Rose. The project preserved the home’s historic footprint while improving its aesthetics and functionality. Powers will also weave in stories passed down from the Schnitzer family, offering insight into Fairhope’s architectural and cultural heritage. Information about her work is available at www.WaterAndWoodproperties.com.

The series concludes April 21 with the Fairhope Volunteer Fire Department. Chris Weinberg, a lieutenant and board member of the department, will speak about the new training center, its uses and the annual H.O.T. event. He will also discuss the arrival of three new fire engines, how the department is funded, its partnership with the city and a brief history of the organization. Weinberg has served with the department for ten years while working for Gulf Distributing as a manager for south Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. More information is available at www.FairhopeVFD.org.

The Fairhope Single Tax Corporation has long supported educational programming that reflects the community’s values and history. Additional information about the lecture series and the organization is available at www.fairhopesingletax.com.
