DAPHNE, Ala.—Daphne police arrested a Fairhope man around 9 a.m. Tuesday morning after he tried to sell $20,000 worth of stolen ThyssenKrupp property for just $5,000, Detective Jason Vannoy said.

Police arrested Willie Junior Monlina, 26, of Fairhope in the parking lot of the Waffle House on Highway 90 in Daphne. Monlina has been charged with first-degree receiving stolen property, which Vannoy said was a Class B felony.

Monlina was arrested during a meeting set up by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office when he attempted to sell items stolen from Thyssenkrupp — and worth more than $20,000 — for $5,200.

The merchandise included a F.A.G. detector III, a vibration measuring instrument used to monitor machines; a Flir T-400 forward-looking infared thermal imaging camera, which Vannoy said was the most expensive item; and a Fluke ohms meter.

Monlina said he did not steal the merchandise from the plant but knew the merchandise he was trying to sell was stolen, police said.

The Mobile Sheriff’s Department and the Daphne Police Department are working on the case.
