The 2007 boys and girls tennis state meet was well represented by Baldwin County High School's, but the squads were not able to produce the results they hoped for. Below is a rundown of each teams search for a state title.

Fairhope has best showing at tournament

The 2007 boys and girls tennis state meet was well represented by Baldwin County High School's, but the squads were not able to produce the results they hoped for. Below is a rundown of each teams search for a state title.

6A Boys

Fairhope

The Pirates found more success in the first round of the state tournament than any other Baldwin County team, but struggled to get out of the semifinals. Fairhope placed defeated Travis Rogers in straight sets in the four spot, and Colby Schoen defeated seventh overall with 21 points, as Spain Park took the title with 57 points.

As the No. 1 seed in singles play, Eric Winztell went three sets with Trussville's Reese Hewitt but winning with scores of 6-1, 2-6, 6-1. Winztell fell in the semifinals.

Grayson Chappelle fell as the No. 2 seed to Nathan Roberts of Huntsville, but J.T. Knode of Fairhope defeated James Camp from Murphy as the No. 3 seed by scores of 6-0, 6-0. Knode fell in the semis to Daniel Little of Grissom.

Phillip Wyatt Chase Chancellos as the five seed and again fell prey in the second round to Huntsville High.

Scott Bulger fell as the six seed.

In doubles play, Chappelle and Schoen dominated the opening round as No. 2 seeds against Samir Patel and Chase Chancellor from Central High School. Wyatt and Bulger found success as a three seed finding wins against Auburn High School and the Opelika Bulldogs.

6A Girls

Fairhope

The Lady Pirates led by No. 1 singles player Katherine Bolton, finished seventh overall with 20 points.

Bolton defeated Mary Cathryn Stroud of Opelika 6-1, 6-0, while Amanda Cornelisoi defeated Amanda Hamm from Murphy on court two. Both players fell in the second round.

No. 3 seed Katie Daniels and No. 4 seed Sarah Sowell found 6-1, 6-2 wins, but both fell in the second round. No. 5 seed Kristen Williams fell to Kathryn Hudak out of Mountain Brook, while Liz Cameron fell on court six to Northridge's Kristina Kamburis in the second round.

In doubles play Bolton and Rowland defeated Murphy's two seed, but fell to Vestavia in the second round. Cornelison and Williams fell as the three seeds in the second round to Huntsville High in a 6-0, 6-0 match. The loss came as somewhat of a surprise as Coffman and Yokley struggled in the first round against McGill winning 7-5, 7-6.

Boys 6A

Robertsdale

The Golden Bears, who finished as runners up in the sectional meet, struggled in their first appearance at the state level finishing last with no points.

Phillip Wyatt, Max Manley, Josh Bilon, Garrett Council, Brandon Eubanks and Matthew Pischek all fell in meet play.

Girls 6A

Robertsdale

The Lady Golden Bears, who also finished runners up in sectionals couldn't seem get things going at the state meet finishing last with no wins as well.

Kirsten Stuart, Emily Steigerwald, Brittany Ellison, Mary Katherine Cargle, Michelle Alexander and Lauren Carpenter fell in singles and doubles play.
