When the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s state basketball tournaments tip off Monday night, nine teams from Baldwin County will be represented after they earned spots in their respective brackets following a top-two finish in the postseason area tournament.
The Fairhope boys’ team (Class 7A Area 2) as well as Foley (Class 7A Area 2) and Gulf Shores (Class 5A Area 1) girls’ teams entered as area champions. Daphne, Spanish Fort and Orange Beach all had both their boys’ and girls’ teams in the state bracket as area runners-up.
Both Fairhope and Gulf Shores collected their fourth straight postseason area title where Foley won its first since 2021 which was the second in a back-to-back set of area championships.
