FOLEY — The Fairhope Pirates defense stole the show against Theodore in the 2007 Football Classic.
Down 7-3 with the clock winding down, Clayton Brock scooped up a fumble and returned it 76 yards for the touchdown. After a missed extra point the score was 9-7 with less than a minute on the clock.
Theodore’s Thomas Demetrius helped put his Bobcats in a position to win the game, but the kicker missed the game winning field goal.
“We are really working hard and we forced ourselves into a few mistakes,” said Pirates head coach Mark Lasseter. “But, I am really proud of the way our kids have adapted to what we are doing offensively and defensively. They are just playing there guts out.”
The Pirates focus offensively was the passing game. The run and gun style produced 19 attempts in just two quarters of play.
