FAIRHOPE – The city of Fairhope will hold two Comprehensive Land Use Plan neighborhood meetings this week.

The meetings will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, at Rotary Youth Club and at 10 a.m. Friday Nov. 5, at the James P. Nix Center. The public is invited to attend.

The meetings are intended to allow project staff to talk to residents about the challenges and opportunities facing Fairhope. Information from residents will be used to create a comprehensive land use plan for Fairhope.

The plan is intended to address growth with an emphasis on environmental concerns and set a legal foundation for controlling land use, according to a city statement.

“We are counting on our residents to participate and let their opinions be known during the engagement portion of this project,” said Fairhope Mayor Sherry Sullivan. “It is critical that we have participation from all citizens to make this plan a success.”

Two more meetings are scheduled for Dec. 2. The first meeting will be at 10 a.m. Dec. 2 at Homestead Village with another meeting at 6 p.m. at the Thompson Hall Fire Station.

Meetings will also be held in January, February and March.
