FAIRHOPE, Ala. - A Fairhope-based company has received a $1.8 million contract for improvements to a public park in Beaufort, S.C.
Beaufort Engineering Services Inc., with offices in Fairhope and South Carolina, was awarded the contract to enhance Burton Wells Park, a comprehensive sports park with a 24,000 square-foot recreation center including a gymnasium, indoor and outdoor fields, according to a BES news release.
In August, work will begin on grading walkways, parking areas and the terraced lawn, the release stated. Other amenities include construction of a lake pavilion, which will house much-needed restrooms, offices, storage and a covered porch.
The project also includes the construction of canoe and kayak launching docks as well as a picnic pavilion. Pathways throughout the park will be complimented with landscaping and irrigation. A new dog park is planned with perimeter fencing and gates.
“BES Inc. is honored to be awarded this $1.8 million project,” the release stated.
