FAIRHOPE, Alabama—Two Creola residents were arrested Saturday in connection with the theft of two automobiles and a rash of vehicle burglaries in the Fairhope area Friday night, according to Fairhope police.

Joshua Thomas Haff, 19, and a 17-year-old male, both of Creola, Ala., were apprehended Saturday morning, following reports of the theft of two automobiles and numerous vehicle burglaries in the area, according to a Jan. 14 news release by the Fairhope Police Department.

Police received reports that morning that two vehicles had been stolen— a 2010 Toyota Camry from Molokai Lane and a Chevrolet Suburban from an area near Blueberry Lane and County Road 48.

Haff was found in possession of the Chevrolet and the other suspect was discovered in possession of the Toyota, according to police. Various stolen items, guns and marijuana were also found in the automobiles.

The initial investigation indicates that the suspects came from Creola together but separated upon arriving in Fairhope, police said. They targeted neighborhoods along South Mobile Street, Lawrence Road, Meadowbrook Drive, River Station, Plantation Pines, and other areas, according to police.

“It is believed that both suspects have burglarized in excess of 30 vehicles in various areas of Fairhope overnight,” the release stated. “Most of the cars were unlocked at the time of the crimes, but at least one car had its window broken to gain entry.”

FPD Cpl. Brett Murray and officer Ronnie Marshall responded to the reports and assisted in the arrests, as did Alabama State Troopers and Daphne and Spanish Fort police.
