FAIRHOPE, Alabama -- The Fairhope Pirates reclaimed the Blue-Gold Trophy with a 28-23 victory over the Foley Lions Friday night on W.C. Majors Field at Fairhope Municipal Stadium.
The Lions fought back after being down 21-3, but could not duplicate last year's come-from-behind victory.
Both teams are now 1-1 on the season, Fairhope 1-0 and Foley 0-1 in 7A Region 1 play.
Foley will begin its home schedule on Lester Smith Field at Ivan Jones Stadium against 7A Region 1 rival Davidson, while Fairhope is on the road for the first time this season, also in a 7A Region 1 battle at Semmes against the Vikings of Mary G. Montgomery.
