Exploreum launching summer attractions featuring animation exhibit, giant-screen dog film

The Exploreum Science Center is kicking off its summer season with two featured attractions designed to blend science, storytelling and hands-on learning for visitors of all ages.

Beginning June 6, the Exploreum will debut The Animation Academy, an interactive traveling exhibit that takes guests behind the scenes of animated filmmaking. The exhibit is sponsored by Mobile County District 2 Commissioner Connie Hudson with additional support from Alabama state Rep. Adline C. Clarke.

The exhibition gives visitors an opportunity to explore the creative and technical process behind animation through activities focused on character design, storyboarding, voice acting, stop-motion animation and the science of movement. Guests can also experiment with animation techniques themselves while learning how art and technology work together to create animated films and characters.

Joining the summer lineup is the return of "Superpower Dogs" in the Exploreum's Digital Dome Theater. The giant-screen film, brought back by popular demand, follows real-life dogs from around the world as they help save lives, protect endangered species and assist communities in need.

The immersive film also explores the science behind canine abilities while highlighting the bond between dogs and their human partners.

The Exploreum also announced that "Tiny Titans," its prehistoric-themed exhibition focused on dinosaur development and ancient life, has been extended through Aug. 1.

"This summer is all about creativity, discovery, and connection," said Executive Director, Don Comeaux. "From the science behind animation and paleontology to experiencing the incredible true stories featured in Superpower Dogs, there is something for everyone to enjoy at the Exploreum."

The summer programming is part of the Exploreum's broader mission to provide educational experiences that encourage curiosity and lifelong learning through interactive science exhibits and immersive entertainment.

The Animation Academy and "Superpower Dogs" will be available for a limited time this summer at the Exploreum Science Center.
