DAPHNE, Ala. — The Eastern Shore Exchange Club, which began a few months ago in Baldwin County, has two upcoming projects that will honor and remember those who have given their lives for our country.
The first project has the club leading the first annual Veterans Day Parade, in Daphne, on Nov. 11. The club will hand out flags to children watching the parade.
Miniature flags will be given to children prior to the parade, which will make its way down Main Street in downtown Daphne.
The club’s second upcoming project will be to honor our veterans, at the USS Alabama Battleship Park beginning Nov. 8 through Nov. 11, with a “Field of Valor.” Large American flags will be installed on the front grounds of the park, facing the causeway, which will be lit at night for this event. Flags can be purchased in remembrance or in honor of veterans.
Sponsors are also being sought for the Field of Valor. If your company or business would like to become a sponsor, contact Fred Jones at fjones55@bellsouth.net or (251) 753-5063. Sponsors will be recognized in print publications associated with the event. The public is encouraged to view the flags and honor those military service personnel recognized at the event. The flags will be removed after the event and installed again in November 2009. More details will be announced soon to celebrate this patriotic remembrance celebration.
