Residents and visitors will have an opportunity to learn more about the wildlife that inhabits Alabama’s Gulf Coast during a community event celebrating the region’s marine life on Aug. 27.
The Alabama Coastal Foundation and Healthy Gulf will host “Celebrating Alabama’s Marine Life” from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, in the Palmetto Room at the Gulf Coast Eco Center, 1650 Eco Trail, Gulf Shores.
The event will highlight the rich marine life found along the Alabama Gulf Coast and offer information on ways the public can help protect the animals that share the area’s beaches and waterways.
Attendees will enjoy short films, educational displays and presentations from local advocates working on behalf of sea turtles, whales, manatees and other marine species. Organizers also will provide an update on sea turtle nesting activity on Alabama beaches.
Snacks and beverages will be served during the event.
