Esley D. Jacobus, born Aug. 11, 1930 in Oak Park, Ill, died April 12, 2013 in Foley.

Mr. Jacobus was formerly of Chicago, and served in the U.S. Army from 1947-1951 as an MP. He was a police officer for the Des Plaines Police Department in Illinois.

After retirement, he became a professional truck driver, member of the Teamster Union 710, logging in over five million miles in 57 years.

Mr. Jacobus was a member of the Moose Lodge for 45 years. In his later years, he worked with disabled veterans, transporting them to the VA Rehabilitation Centers.

He did many things in life, but he was always Dad, a great husband and always the greatest Papa, strong-willed and larger than life itself.

Mr. Jacobus was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jacobus; grandchildren, Peggy Sue Jacobus, Tiffany Nicole Todd, Rodney Todd, Jr. and Roland Daniel Alvarado.

He is survived by sons, Jeffery (Chin) Jacobus, Peter Jacobus, Robert (Angie) Jacobus and James (Joyce) Consolo; daughters Darlene (Rodney Todd) Consolo, Teresa (Dean) Shaw, Joyce (Chuck) Brown, Liz (Donnie) Culbeth and Tabatha (Tyson Eaton) Jacobus; granddaughters, Anya (Roy) Padgett and Skylar Eaton; and many other loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at 3 p.m., at Mr. Jacobus’ residence.
