As a warm up for the April 28, 50th anniversary celebration of Gulf Shores’ incorporation, the Gulf Shores Out & In concert series presents Shane Tucker performing “Elvis Remembered,” a tribute to the undisputed King of Rock and Roll.
Slip into those blue suede shoes on April 19, at 7 p.m., as the “hunka, hunka burnin’ love” takes the indoor stage of the Erie Meyer Civic Center, 1930 W. Second St. in Gulf Shores. The doors will open at 6:30 for this free event.
Tucker began getting “All Shook Up” several years ago, when a friend asked him to perform at the original Jake’s, then located on Fort Morgan Road. For that first gig, he shaved his beard (leaving those trademark sideburns), borrowed a costume and lip-synched to pre-recorded tracks.
Knowing he could do greater justice to “The King” by actually singing, Tucker bought the costume and began performing live for friends and family. Honing his show through the years, he has performed all over the Southeast, from Birmingham to Natchez to Pensacola.
Not only does he give full-on performances, tossing kisses and scarves to the ladies, he frequently competes in Elvis impersonator contests and revues such as the “Images of Elvis.”
Tucker attributes his love for Elvis to his father’s appreciation for Presley’s smooth vocal talent. Carrying on the family tradition, he has introduced his own daughters, Brandi and Bonnie Clair, to the music that made Elvis a legend.
Go to the show on April 19 and you might even see little Bonnie Clair make a guest appearance.
Born in Demopolis, Tucker now resides in Foley with his wife, Carmyn, and their two daughters.
He is an assistant principal at Foley High School and has earned quite a fan base in the South Baldwin area.
Don’t miss your chance to see Tucker live at the Erie Meyer Civic Center.
