Elvin Van Bemis, 71, a resident of Gulf Shores, died Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Pensacola. Mr. Bemis was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Bon Secour and a retired commercial fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Eleanor Bemis; two brothers, Vernon and Leroy Bemis. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Bemis of Gulf Shores; a daughter and son-in-law, Lavana and Eric Grantham, Huntsville; two sisters, Carolyn Allen and Nelda Bemis, both of Bon Secour; a brother, Lonnie Bemis of Louisiana and one grandson, Gavin Grantham of Huntsville. Funeral services will be Monday, March 19, 2012 at 3 p.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. Arrangements by Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Homes, Foley.
