SPANISH FORT, Alabama — Spanish Fort senior and reigning Baldwin County girls golf champion Elaine Wood signed her letter of intent to play the links for the University of Montevallo women next year.

Wood finished her junior season ranked fifth in the sub-state tournament and advanced to the 5A state tournament for the second time and was named an all-Baldwin County player for the fourth time in her career. Her most recent individual junior-golfing association list of titles and strong finishes includes winning the Eastern Shore Junior Classic at TimberCreek , taking third in the PGA National Qualifier at Azalea City and sixth in the Alabama Women’s Stroke Play at Selma Country Club this summer.

The multi-sport athlete working on her third varsity basketball letter this season loves both sports but plans to focus on golf after this season. She chose the Falcons program over several other offers and plans to major in physical education.
