MONTEVALLO, Ala. – University of Montevallo golfer Elaine Wood of Spanish Fort qualified for the NCAA national championships as an individual after finishing tied for fifth at the NCAA DII Women's Golf South Super Regional.
Wood becomes the second player in Montevallo history to qualify for the national championship and is the sixth women's golfer in the Peach Belt Conference to qualify for the national finals.
Wood finished the regional tournament as one of the top three individuals not associated with an advancing team. Over the three round event, Wood posted a score of 222 after scoring a 75, 73, and 74 in each round of the regional.
Wood will compete in the final on May 18-21, held at the Common Ground Golf Course in Aurora, Colorado. The finals will be held as a part of the NCAA Division II Spring Sports Festival.
