Terry Ray Edwards, 63, of Birmingham, died Tuesday, May 19, 2009.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving with the 101st Division in Vietnam. he received two Presidential Citations.
He served on the Hot Springs, Ark., City Council and taught special education at State Teachers College in Conway, Ark.
Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Edwards; three sons, Shawn (Marilyn) Edwards, Shannon (Robyn) Edwards and Shad (Krista) Edwards; step-son, Gary Garrison; two step-daughters, Peggy (Ben) Tarran and Deborah Thompson; eight grandchildren, Kristen and Carlee Edwards, Avery and Christian Edwards, Alex and Alexa Edwards, Lisa Tarran, Wosley Thompson and Taylor Johnsey; his mother, Leana M. Kirby; three brothers, Gary (Geneva) Edwards, Randy (Linda) Edwards and Jeff (Nancy) Kirby; sister, Sandra (J.R.) Anderson; 17 nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Thursday, May 21 at Rideout’s Gardendale Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 22 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Forest Crest Cemetery.
