Edward Lloyd Burg, Jr., 90, of Daphne, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Nov.14, 2021. Edward was born Jan. 16, 1931, in Duluth, Minnesota, to Edward Lloyd and Esther (Dahl) Burg, Sr. Ed attended Lake Forest Academy in Chicago, Illinois and Lawrence College in Wisconsin.  During the Korean War, Edward served in the United States Air Force, stationed at Nellis AFB. Thereafter, Ed returned to Duluth, MN where he joined his father to run Burg Hotel Supply Company. After the sale of the company in the 70’s, Ed founded and ran Lakehead Safety and Equipment Company.  Ed was a faithful congregant and deacon of Duluth Congregational Church and was a member of many civic organizations including the VFW, Elks, Glen Avon Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, ADD Temple, and Rotary. Rotary held a very special place in his heart and life.  He was very proud to be a third generation Rotarian.  No matter where in the country or world he was, Ed was a member of Rotary Chapters and was loyal in attending Rotary’s weekly meetings.

Edward’s other great passions were being in the outdoors whether on land or water. His many interests included hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, sailing, handyman projects, and being at the Minnesota cabins on Pike Lake, Lake Vermilion and the island on Farm Lake. Some highlights were snow skiing one hundred plus days each year and bow hunting for elk when he lived in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. While living in Florida, Ed enjoyed sailing his beloved dream boat, Vermilion II, around the Caribbean for three years.

Edward will be remembered as a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Edward is preceded in death by his parents, Edward Lloyd and Esther (Dahl) Burg, Sr.

Edward is survived by his wife, Joyce (Harris) Burg; four daughters, Laurie Beth Burg (Jimmy Hagstrom), Linda Smith (Mike), Lisa Rhoads (Judson), and Anne Quintanilla (Mario), nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A private memorial will be held by his daughters at Lake Vermilion. Thank you for the special part each of you played in Ed’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send cards and memories of Ed in care of: Laurie Beth Burg, 1111 West Skyline Parkway, Duluth, Minnesota, 55806.
