Edna Virginia Clopton Duckworth, 95, of Orange Beach, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010 at her daughter’s home in Robertsdale.
She was known to family and friends by many names, including Nanny, Nanny Duck, Aunt Edna and Aunt Ed.
She lived in Bear Point for over 42 years where she was a member of the Bear Point Civic Association, serving as an officer for many years. She was instrumental in the building of the Civic Association Building and other civic projects.
She loved living on the water, spending time throwing her cast net, fishing, shrimping and just sitting on her front porch watching the activity on the water. She loved her family and always enjoyed having her family and friends visit.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin F. Duckworth; parents, Grover C. Cloton and Alice Ja’net Wallace Clopton; daughter, Janet Kinsey; three brothers, Clifton, Curtis and Wallace Clopton; four sisters, Hazel Clopton Graham, Lurlene Clopton, Alice Clopton Jackson and Elaine Clopton Suarez Barton; one granddaughter and three great-grandsons.
Survivors include two daughters, Glenda Spahr of Pensacola, Fla., and Winona Jones Knight of Robertsdale; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation begins at 1 p.m. with funeral services at 2 p.m. Tuedsay, Dec. 28 at Mack Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Wynn Cemetery in Summerdale.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the charity of your choice.
