Dorothy Betts Edmondson, 76, of Foley, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007 in Spanish Fort.
She was a native of Birmingham and part-time resident of Alexander City and Foley. She and her late husband, O.L. “Oogie” Edmondson were co-owners of Edco Discount Center in Alexander City, and she later retired from Farmer's Home Administration in the mid-1990’s. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority in Alexander City and St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Foley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, A.C. and Thelma Betts of Birmingham, and brother, Charles Betts of Birmingham.
Survivors include two daughters, Tracey (Mike) Hodge of Alexander City and Charlane (Gintas) Jazbutis of Kent, Wash.; a son, Lee (Sandy) Edmondson of Spanish Fort; sister, Joyce Betts of Foley; brother, William Betts of Lynwood, Wash.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one expectant great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12 at Orr Street Baptist Church in Alexander City with the Rev. George Stewart officiating.
