Edith “Edie” Elizabeth Lucas, 86, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the home of her eldest son, Manfred, on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State on Saturday morning, the 26th of March, 2016.

She was well known and liked by patrons of the original Wolf Bay Lodge in Miflin, Ala. where she worked for over 30 years.

Born Edith Elizabeth Leuthner in Kelsterbach, Germany on Aug. 25, 1929 to Johann and Maria Leuthner (Seippel), she was a single parent who raised three boys and worked tirelessly to ensure they always had a loving home, great food and a bright future.

She loved all of God’s creatures and wanted nothing more than to ensure they were all well fed, even the bears. No doubt Saint Francis will be looking for her in heaven.

Her greatest pride was in her years of work throughout her lifetime as a caregiver to the sick and the elderly, providing comfort, friendship and reassurance to those who were often forgotten in their later years.

Her greatest joy was having as many members of her family as possible together in one place, and feeding them continuously while sharing their stories.

She is survived by her sons, Manfred, David and Steve Lucas; and by her brothers, Norbert and Nikolaus Leuthner of Germany.

Cremation and ashes to be scattered upon the Hood Canal in the shadow of the Olympic Mountains near her home, per her final wishes. Love you Mom!!!
