The Eastern Shore Young Professionals will host their annual Cornhole Tournament on Thursday, April 16, at JBT Power, 1204 U.S. Highway 98, beginning at 5:30 p.m., bringing together community members for an evening of competition and philanthropy.
The event supports the Eastern Shore Chamber Foundation’s youth initiatives, with proceeds benefiting the Youth Leadership Program and the Student Training and Exploration Program, known as STEP. Both programs are designed to prepare local students for future success by building leadership skills, offering career exposure and providing real-world experience.
“Our Cornhole Tournament directly supports our youth and workforce initiative — Youth Leadership and Student Training and Exploration Program,” said Casey Williams, president and executive director of the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce. “These programs foster a sense of community, develop leadership skills, and provide career development.”
The tournament has become a staple networking event on the Eastern Shore, drawing young professionals and residents from across the area. While team spots are filled, organizers are encouraging community members to attend and help build on last year’s fundraising total of more than $4,000, which supported workforce development, career exploration and student training opportunities.
Spectators can attend with a $20 donation at the door, which includes five drink tickets and unlimited burgers, hot dogs and sides. Organizers say community turnout will be key to surpassing previous fundraising efforts, with food fresh off the grill and multiple drink tickets included as part of the experience.
