Eastern Shore runners show up strong at 2013 Azalea City Classic

MOBILE, Ala.— Fairhope’s Hannah Evans and Caleb Casolaro each took individual second-place ribbons in their Azalea City Classic girls and boys invitational divisions in Mobile Saturday hosted by the University of South Alabama.

Evans (19:36.62) came in about 15 seconds behind the girls winner Ramsey Wagner (19:21.11) of St. Patrick’s Catholic of Biloxi, Miss. Casolaro ran a 17:02.50 to take the runner-up spot to UMS-Wright’s Robert Hope who nearly ran a sub-sixteen-minute 5K (3.1 miles) at 16:08.30.  

Daphne’s John Alan Walker was about 25 seconds behind Casolaro for third. The top three finishes helped their teams to top-10 honors with the Lady Pirates and Trojans 10th and the Pirates sixth.
