DAPHNE – Eastern Shore visitors and residents will soon have a chance to use a new website to check out attractions and opportunities in their region.
Casey Williams, president of the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce, told Daphne City Council members Monday, June 1, that the chamber is launching the site to promote the area. The new site will be exploreeasternshore.com.
She said each of the three cities, Daphne, Spanish Fort and Fairhope, will have its own listings.
“Everything is filtered by city,’ Williams said. “We’re going to have shop, eat, play, stay and then, once that is loaded, we will be doing event planning. So, things like the Daphne Civic Center and any of the venues for planning so that folks who are coming down here for a wedding or a conference or a convention, they’ll have one place to go to where they can venues and that kind of thing, so that will be added once we get shop, eat, play and stay loaded and we’re very excited about it.”
She said the site is now up, but work is continuing on the listings. The website should be ready for use in about a month.
“That will be launched in the next 30 days and we are very excited about what this can bring to our area,” Williams said. “We’re going to have an antique trail, culinary, trip inspiration, all across the Eastern Shore and we will be continuing to add those as we go as well as there are maps that are interactive, so if you filter, something, say a restaurant, seafood restaurant, it will actually go to a map and show you all the points on the map, so it’s very integrated and very user friendly and we’re most excited to be bringing it to the Eastern Shore.”
The site will feature a variety of activities available in the area.
“One of the examples is going to be ‘a day on the water on the Eastern Shore’ and it’s going to have where you click on boat launches and it’ll share all the boat launches available on the Eastern Shore,” Williams said.
She said the area has many attractions that will continue to bring back visitors.
“I say The Eastern Shore is a lot like Disneyworld,” Williams said. “You come once and you know you have to come back because you didn’t’ get to do it all and we want to highlight all those things.”
Another online project being developed by the chamber is the Support Small Eastern Shore program that launched about three weeks ago. The program on Facebook Live offers video interviews on Mondays, Wednesday, Fridays and Saturdays to promote small businesses in the area. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, live Zoom interviews will be featured on Facebook.
