Looking for an easy and affordable activity for a hot summer Saturday night?

Supporters of the Eastern Shore Art Center have announced a new fund-raising event, Hot Salsa Night, scheduled for Saturday, July 21 at 7 p.m. at the center, located at 401 Oak Ave. in downtown Fairhope.

Highlights of the evening include salsa dancing demonstrations, tapas bars, beer and sangria, a deejay and a mariachi band for music and dancing.

There will also be a silent auction featuring works of local artists.

The Los Tacos truck will be on hand to sell treats, including their famous tacos.

Event proceeds will benefit the Eastern Shore Art Center Building Fund.

“This is a great way to enjoy a fun, casual evening,” says Barbara Corte, event co-chair. “In the heat of the summer, let’s celebrate ‘Hot Salsa Night’ by coming out and supporting our local art center.”

Others working on the event include co-chairs Mary Ann Nelson and Missy Wilson.

The three co-chairs have recently “rediscovered” the art center by taking adult painting classes together.

Sponsors to date include: RBC Centura Bank and Tim Simmonds/State Farm as Tango sponsors; Rance Rheel/Coldwell Banker as Hot Tamale sponsor; and Drs. Robert and Jana Brown, CK Collection, and Dr. and Mrs. William Wilson as Salsa and Chips sponsors.

Sponsor levels include publicity, event signage, and ticket packages.

Individual tickets are $50 per person, and reservations are requested by July 18.
