Earth Day Delta Boat Tour April 24

SPANISH FORT, Ala. — Blakeley State Park will observe Earth Day Saturday, April 24 with a public boat tour of the Tensaw-Mobile River Delta aboard the park’s eco-tour boat, the Delta Explorer, from its Tensaw River Dock.

Beginning at 1:30 p.m., the two-hour boat tour is up the Tensaw River, across the Delta through winding creeks and bayous, south to the Mobile Bay Causeway and back to the Blakeley dock. Seating on the 50-passenger boat is on a first come-first serve basis but reservations can be assured using major credit cards.

Warm weather has brought out the alligators as well as other spring animal, bird and plant wildlife in the Delta to the delight of recent tour groups riding Blakeley’s boat.

Tickets for the tour are $22 for adults, $12 for children and free to children 4-5. Blakeley Park is located on State Highway 225 about 4.5 miles north of its intersection with U.S.31 at Spanish Fort. For reservations call 626-5581.

Officially, Earth Day is April 22 but traditionally is observed by many groups on the first Saturday afterwards. The Blakeley boat tour is one of a number of observations of Earth Day April 24.
