E-cycling fundraiser benefiting Spanish Fort Middle School Library

SPANISH FORT, Ala.—The Spanish Fort Middle School Library needs you.

Specifically, SFMS Principal Craig Ross said the library needs a few things you probably have lying around the house or office and aren’t quite sure what to do with them.

With barely two months remaining in the library’s “Cartridges for Kids” campaign, time is running out, he said.

“At the end of each quarter, the homeroom that collects the most items receives an ice cream sundae party,” Ross said.

The fundraiser ends May 20.

Since 1999, the national program has raised more than $14 million for schools and other nonprofits while helping people responsibly dispose of recyclable technology.

“Cartridges for Kids,” designed to help communities reduce their carbon footprints while raising a little cash, buys discarded ink jet cartridges, laser cartridges, cell phones, global positioning system devices, iPods, video games and consoles, digital cameras, calculators, DVDs, PDAs and even laptops.

Desktop computers and toner for copy machines are not collected, however.
