Willard M. “Bill” Duncan, 83, of Fairhope, died Friday, May 1, 2009.

He was born in Bibb County in the small community of Pondville on May 2, 1925. He served his country in the Navy during World War II and was employed by Bemis Bag Company in Mobile, Indianapolis, Houston, and Memphis, Tenn., for 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Mamie Duncan; brothers, Olin Duncan, Alvis Duncan, Truman Duncan; sisters, Stella D. Hallman, Joyce D. Brown and a son-in-law, Johnny Coleman.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mildred Gaskin Duncan of Fairhope; three daughters, Glenda D. Coleman, Wanda D. (Bob) Havranek and Lisa Duncan, all of Fairhope; two grandsons, Conrad (Jodi) Havranek and Danny Coleman of Fairhope; two great-grandchildren, Sarah and Chloe Coleman of Fairhope; two step-great-grandchildren, Joey (Boykin) Stephens of Fort Bragg, N.C., and Jessie Stephens of Fairhope; a sister, Barbara D. Wise of Pondville; two brothers, Royce (Minnie) Duncan of Greensboro and Jimmy (Mildred) Duncan of Pondville; many nieces, nephews; and other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Pondville.
