A local church has partnered with Missouri-based Sports Crusaders to sponsor a week-long basketball camp for elementary-aged kids.

The camp is scheduled for the week of June 25. The fee for the camp is $40 per participant, which includes a T-shirt, sports Bible and awards. Register no later than Friday, June 22.

In the Community Life Center gym on the campus of Daphne United Methodist Church, participants will spend five days honing their basketball skills and elevating their faith.

For over a decade, Sports Crusaders has offered sports camp events in the Midwest.

This summer’s basketball camp will mark the first time Sports Crusaders will travel to Alabama to offer the camp.

“This is an opportunity for student athletes to focus on heightening their game, bonding with their teammates and concentrating on Jesus Christ,” said Bobby Shows, president and founder of Sports Crusaders.

Basic fundamentals of basketball, various games, and discussion of teamwork and sportsmanship will be performed and discussed. The basketball camp at Daphne United Methodist Church will be led by a team of qualified college-aged Christian student coaches who have traveled nationally and internationally teaching the basics of the game, as well as teaching life principles.

For more information contact Neil Beasley, Community Life Center director, at 626-2287 or visit www.dumc.org. for registration forms.

Registrations are currently being accepted Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Daphne United Methodist Church, 2401 Main St.

Pre-registration is required. A full day camp is available for working parents.
