Duck, duck, win: Rubber Ducky Regatta racing back to OWA

Posted

The 3rd annual Rubber Ducky Regatta is set to return to OWA Parks & Resort on March 21, bringing family fun, prizes and community support for the Ronald McDonald House of Mobile.

According to a news release, up to 10,000 rubber ducks will be released into the OWA lake, racing to the finish line as participants compete for a variety of prizes. First-place winners will receive two tickets to see Luke Bryan at the Wharf, a two-night stay in Orange Beach, dinner for two at Villagio Grille and two 2026 season passes to Tropic Falls at OWA. Second place offers a $1,000 Rouses Market gift card, two tickets to a concert at Soul Kitchen, a one-night stay at Soul Kitchen Airbnb and dinner for two at Noble South. Third place includes two 2026 general admission tickets to Tropic Falls and a one-year membership to Rich’s Car Wash.

Duck adoptions start at $5 for one duck and go up to $350 for 100 ducks. Proceeds directly support Ronald McDonald House of Mobile, which provides housing and resources for families while their children receive treatment at area hospitals. Every year, more than 600 families from Baldwin and Mobile counties and surrounding areas rely on RMHC to stay close to their hospitalized children.

“Since 2000, our mission at Ronald McDonald House of Mobile has been to provide everything a family needs while they’re with us so they can focus solely on the health of their child,” Paul Giardina, executive director of RMHC of Mobile, said in the release. “A family event at a family park is the perfect way to have community members of all ages support those families who need our help.”

The day-long event begins at 11 a.m. with duck adoptions, family-friendly games, music and specials at Downtown OWA stores and restaurants. The duck race is scheduled for 4 p.m.

In addition to the race, spectators can enjoy the “Happy Meals on Wheels” Jeep show, vote for their favorite decorated Jeep, or join live Family Feud-style games. The event will also feature cooking demonstrations, a Ronald McDonald House scavenger hunt, train rides, bouncy houses and other activities for children.

The Rubber Ducky Regatta is sponsored by Chicken Salad Chick. To adopt ducks or register for the Jeep show, visit www.rubberduckyregatta.com. For more information, contact Diana Brewer at diana@rmhcmobile.org or call (251) 694-6873.
