MOBILE, Ala. — If you’re still searching for the perfect Halloween costume, the Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center in downtown Mobile has a suggestion that your kids will not only love, but one that also comes with free admission. On Saturday, the Exploreum is offering free admission to guests of all ages who dress like Bob the Builder.
Guests must don the following items in order to qualify for the free admission:
•Yellow hard hat
•Red checkered shirt
•Overalls
•Tool belt
Exploreum staff will determine if guests are dressed in proper Bob the Builder attire. The promotion includes free admission to all permanent exhibits and Bob the Builder — Project: Build It, which is sponsored locally by Heritage Homes, Lowe’s and Publix.
In addition to the costume promotion, Saturday is also the final day guests can purchase a discounted Family Membership. Available for only $90, Family Memberships include unlimited visits to permanent exhibits and Bob the Builder — Project: Build It, free tickets for friends and discounts on IMAX films, gift shop purchases, camp registrations, birthday parties and more.
Sponsored nationally by Delta Faucet and produced by the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, the Bob the Builder exhibit is inspired by HIT Entertainment’s top rated television series.
During the exhibit, children can spend time in Sunflower Valley with the Can-Do Crew, learning the importance of conservation and building and maintaining a home. Parents can also join in the fun, working with their children to build a vehicle shelter and experimenting with tools in Bob’s building workshop.
Children will also be able to meet and greet Bob the Builder daily.
For a limited time, parents can celebrate their child’s birthday with a Heritage Homes Construction Party. Themes are available for both boys and girls, and individuals should call (251) 208-6879 to check for available dates.
In addition, area Lowe’s Home Improvement stores will provide educational activities for both adults and children through four “Do It Yourself” workshops.
Lastly, for a small fee, families may also sign up for the Little Builder Brunch, which is sponsored by Publix and scheduled for 11 a.m. Nov. 8. Families can enjoy a delicious spread provided by Publix, and afterwards children can meet and greet the Bob the Builder character in the exhibit hall.
Reservations are required and can be made by calling the same phone number.
The Exploreum is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, noon until 5 p.m.
