Dream Center of Baldwin County to host 5th annual ‘Dream Big!’ fundraiser

Posted

Dream Center of Baldwin County will host its fifth annual “Dream Big!” Fundraiser Dinner on Thursday, Sept. 10, bringing community members, local businesses and supporters together to help expand opportunities for underserved youth across Baldwin County.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. at the Foley Civic Center and will feature bestselling author David Magee as this year’s guest speaker.

Magee is the author of “Dear William: A Father’s Memoir of Addiction, Recovery, Love and Loss.” He will share a message focused on addiction, recovery, family and hope.

The evening also will include fine dining, a silent auction and an opportunity for guests to meet Dream Center participants and learn more about the organization’s work.

Dream Center of Baldwin County provides youth with mentorship, education, life skills, prevention programming, case management, transportation and workforce-readiness opportunities.

“Our young people need to know that their past does not have to determine their future,” said Felicia Chesmer, Director of Dream Center of Baldwin County. “So many of the youth who come through our doors simply need someone to believe in them, hold them accountable and give them an opportunity to see that their lives can be different. This fundraiser allows our community to be part of making that possible.”

Proceeds from the fundraiser will help Dream Center of Baldwin County continue and expand its services for youth and families throughout Baldwin County. Sponsorship opportunities also are available for local businesses and community partners.

In addition to the fundraiser, Magee will appear at Dorothy June Booksellers in Foley on Sept. 10 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for a special book signing.
