Downtown Foley closures, event changes ahead of extreme cold Saturday

Posted

Due to expected extreme cold weather, the Foley Railroad Museum will be closed Saturday, Jan. 31. The Foley Event Train and the Model Train Exhibit will also be closed.

The National Weather Service has placed the Foley area under an Extreme Cold Watch from Friday, Jan. 30, until Sunday, Feb. 1, with a forecasted low of 19 and wind chill as low as 6 possible.

The museum is scheduled to reopen Monday, Feb. 2. The museum’s hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Saturday. The Model Trail Exhibit is open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Event Train is scheduled to carry riders around Heritage Park on most Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. unless an event is taking place in the park on that day. The train will not run on Saturday, Feb. 7, due to an event scheduled at Heritage Park.

The Gumbo and Alabama Slammer Festival was rescheduled at the park from Jan. 31-Feb. 1 to Feb. 7-8 due to forecast cold weather.

The Foley Railroad Museum is located at 125 E. Laurel Ave. in Foley. Admission to the Railroad Museum, Model Railroad Exhibit and Event Train is free.
