Douglas “Doug” Tindal passed away peacefully at home with his wife and beloved Jack Russells by his side after a 10-month battle with lung cancer.
Doug was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Elberta. He was born in Foley on Aug. 26, 1948. He was a farmer in south Baldwin County for many years before joining Degussa Corp. as a chemical operator.
After retiring in 2005, he worked in the trucking industry until his cancer diagnosis in January 2013.
Doug was predeceased by his parents, Horace and Alvia Tindal; his son, Christopher Tindal; and his sister, Aurellia Davis.
He is survived by his wife, Janet; one daughter, Elizabeth (Matt) Dobbins of Silverhill; three sons, Doug (Tami) Tindal Jr. of Summerdale, Tom (Jana) Tindal of Silverhill and Scott (Pam) Tindal of Cameron, N.C.; two brothers, Rodger (Kay) Tindal of Summerdale and Maynard (Ann) Tindal of Macon, Miss.; 11 grandchildren; and Harley and Mitzi.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013 at the chapel of Pine Rest Funeral Home. Pastor Keith Ringers will officiate.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. immediately prior to the service, with interment to follow in Pine Rest Memorial Park.
