Edward “Doug” “June Bug” “Gooney” Douglas Jr., 71, of Ozark, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009 in UAB Medical Center in Birmingham.

He was born July 9, 1938 to Melissa Jane Dunnam and Edward Douglas. He was a native of Loxley and lived in the northern California mountains that he loved, making his home in Ozark for the past three years. He served in the United States Navy and was a small businessman during his entire working career.

He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Maebell Douglas Gordon.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Welch Douglas of Ozark; four daughters, Gay (Allan) Lassiter and Wynne Griffin of Summerdale, Mylie Douglas and Lori Phariss, both of Grass Valley Calif.; step-daughter, Colleen Kelley of Fountain, Fla.; son, Rod (Lori) Douglas of Virginia Beach, Va.; step-son, Sean Kelley of Fremont, Calif.; his mother, Jane Calloway of Loxley; sister, Ann Hill of Loxley; seven grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 17 from the chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with the Rev. Harry Circle officiating.
