Doris Elon McWaters, 94, born in Laurel, Miss. and a resident of Stapleton died Monday, July 22, 2013 at Oakwood Nursing Home.
She was a hostess (retired) at the old Sea Ranch Restaurant on the Causeway.
She is survived by one sister, Jean Hamil of Bay Minette; three nieces, Karen Roach of Costa Rica, Patricia Webster of Stapleton and Peggy Hamil of Austin, Texas; five nephews, John McWaters of Bay Minette, David (Pam) Hamil of Buda, Texas, Steven (Sandi) Hamil of Irvington, Marcus McWaters III of California and Shawn (Annette) McWaters of Hammond, La.; seven great-nieces and nephews; three great-grandnephews; four great-grandnieces; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Marcus V. McWaters II; a sister, Bernice McWaters Robertson; and her parents, Marcus Vernon and Buena Vesta Atchinson McWaters.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, July 25, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Stapleton United Methodist Church, with the Rev. George Weaver officiating. Burial will follow at Stapleton Community Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday, July 25, 2013, from 1 until the 2 p.m. service at Stapleton United Methodist Church.
