Donald Eugene Baker, 79, a native of East Chicago, Ind., and a resident of Tucson, Ariz., died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010.

He was employed as a research tech by the Inland Steel Company in East Chicago, Ind., for 32 years and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.

An accomplished rosarian and master gardener, he was a member of the Pensacola Rose Society, the Mobile Rose Society and volunteered at Bellingrath Gardens in Mobile.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Dardine Baker; two sons, Bryant C. Baker and Donald S. Baker; and two daughters, Donna Gene Carroll and Tracy L. Kay.

Interment with full military honors will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19 at Pine Rest Memorial Park, Foley.
