Donald Ellsworth Ellis, 82, of Foley, Ala. and formerly of Woodstock, Vt., died peacefully at home with his loving wife by his side on Tuesday, April 28, 2015.
Don was born Feb. 17, 1933 in Woodstock, Vt. to Leon and Hazel (Harrington) Ellis. He grew up in Woodstock, and attended Woodstock Union High School.
He went by the nickname ‘Hap,’ spent a few years in the service, was a Rotarian and ran a successful business for many years in Woodstock with Bruce Gould and others.
In the late 1990s Don moved, with his wife, to Alabama where he was in business with his son, Jim Ellis, until Don’s death.
Don is survived by his wife of 29 years, Dee Ellis; his daughter, Jerri Benjamin and husband Curt, their children and grandchildren; his daughter, Jennifer Brown and husband Russell; his son, James Ellis and wife Laura, their children and grandchild; his daughter, Jill Dole and husband Ross, their children and grandchildren.
Donald Ellis was a gentle, kind and loving husband, father and friend. He will be sorely missed.
There will be a memorial service in honor of Mr. Ellis Monday, May 4, 2015 at Pine Rest Funeral Home Chapel, with service starting at 10 a.m.
