Gulf Shores High School student Ty Pitman has been named runner-up in the 2025 Congressional App Challenge for Alabama's 1st Congressional District, represented by U.S. Rep. Barry Moore.
The annual competition encourages students nationwide to learn coding and develop innovative applications that address real-world problems.
Pitman's entry was a fishing-themed game built using Unity and programmed in C#. The game combines engaging graphics with interactive gameplay, showcasing Pitman's creativity and technical skills in game development.
"This achievement highlights Ty's dedication and drive," said Jamie McClung, computer science teacher at Gulf Shores. "Ty goes above and beyond in everything he does. He is an exceptional student, and I am incredibly proud of his hard work and the recognition he has earned."
The Congressional App Challenge attracts thousands of entries each year.
