FOLEY, Ala. — Both the Trojans and the Bobcats were close to winning their respective conferences but finished one game short. This will be the first bowl for the Trojans since 2010 when they beat Ohio in the New Orleans Bowl.

One of the biggest matchups outside the New Year’s six bowl games is the high power and consistent Trojans offense led by Silvers against the aggressive and dangerous Bobcats defense.

This season, the former Gulf Shores Dolphin has passed for 269 completions out of 419 attempts for 2,945 yards and 22 touchdowns.

hat makes the Trojans' offense even more outstanding is their vigorous offensive line. Not only has the offensive line helped running back Jordan Chunn account for 1,232 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns but they are the unit who has allowed the least amount of sacks in the nation with seven allowed sacks.

Silvers will be challenged by the Bobcats’ defense, a consistent and aggressive unit bringing pressure on every play through a number of unique blitzes. The Bobcats have four players on defense that have 10 or more tackles for loss. Defensive lineman Tarell Basham has accounted for 48 total tackles, 14 tackles for loss and nine sacks this season. Basham was voted the MAC defensive player of the year.

The Bobcats are tied for fifth in the nation in total sacks (43), sixth in rushing yards allowed per game (105.8) and 31st in total yards allowed per game (363).
