Vincent Samuel Di Benedetto, a resident of Foley, died Sunday, July 15, 2007.

He was born April 27, 1922 in Birmingham, the son of Sam and Mary Jo Di Benedetto, who were originally from San Giuseppe Iato, Sicily.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Robertsdale and a former member of St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church in Foley.

He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II and the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

He served six years on the city of Foley Planning Commission. He served 35 years with the Civil Service and retired from Pensacola Naval Air Station.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Frank, Sam and Anthony Di Benedetto, and a grandson, Vincent Owen Di Benedetto.

Survivors include his wife, Mattie “Mickey” Di Benedetto; daughter, Jo Ann (Mike) Roberts of Pensacola, Fla.; two sons, Vincent Samuel (Van) Di Benedetto Jr. of Millbrook and Samuel Phillip Di Benedetto of Loxley; five grandchildren, Michael B. Roberts, Jennifer Roberts Davis, Shandra Faye Glover, Aimee Nicole Glover and Evan Lamar Di Benedetto; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sarah (Donald) Cumbest of Silverhill and Phyllis (Leslie) Tapia of Mobile; two sisters-in-law, Rosemary Di Benedetto of Birmingham and Evelyn Di Benedetto of Lucedale, Miss.; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Visitation and Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday, July 18 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Interment followed at Pine Rest Memorial Park.

The family requests memorial donations be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Robertsdale.

Arrangements were made by Pine Rest Funeral Home Inc., Foley.
