DAPHNE, Ala.—Daphne High School honored its 2009 graduating class—the 20th in the school’s history—with a celebration May 18 at Jubilee Stadium.
Kathleen Hinman, valedictorian, addressed the students during commencement; Daniel Murphy served as salutatorian.
Principal Don Blanchard said he expects great things from this year’s crop of graduates.
“They were a great group,” he said. “Seniors set the tone for the school. This group did an outstanding job as was evidenced by the graduation ceremony. I really think that members of this class are going to do well.”
The school’s graduates garnered a total $5.2 million in scholarship offers. The majority came from in-state schools, such as the University of South Alabama, the University of Mobile and the University of Alabama.
However, some received offers from New York University, Tulane University, Florida State University and from as far away as New Mexico Military Institute.
