DHS continues area domination

ROBERTSDALE — The Daphne Trojans completed a three-game sweep of 6A Area 3 and county rival Robertsdale Saturday with a 13-1 win.

The game wrapped up both teams regular area matchups heading into spring break week.

The Trojans took a close 2-0 win Friday at DHS and followed with an 8-3 win in the nightcap. The win extended the No. 1 -ranked 6A team to a 25-3 overall record and a 20-game streak in the win column.

DHS also ended the area race with an undefeated Area 3 record.

Chris Peacock got the two-hit shutout win in game one with eight strikeouts and improved his record to 8-0.

In game two, John Blanchette went six innings, scattered five hits to go 8-1 on the mound.

On Saturday, the game was at RHS with Ryan Hines tossing a three-hitter with seven strikeouts for the DHS win and add to his 8-1 record.

At the plate, Daphne’s Greg Pron went 3-for-3 in game three with a home run, a triple and a double and had four RBIs. Will Stickney also had a two-run homer for DHS, Cody Barber was 3-for-3 and an RBI, Daniel Peterson was 3-for-4 and two RBIs, Will Stringer had a single and an RBI. Stevie Bird had an RBI for the Bears.

At DHS Friday in game one , Trey Early drove in Pron with a sacrifice after Peterson singled and later scored on a bad throw. In the late game, Early homered with Pron aboard, Braxton Grantham and Hines had back-to-back RBIs in the second and Hines added three more on one swing in the fifth to score Barber, Early and Peterson on a double. Grantham, Corey Adams and Stringer also had singles.
