ROBERTSDALE, Ala. A 911 call around 11 p.m. Wednesday led Baldwin County Sheriff deputies to the scene of a fatal shooting.
According to a release from BCSO spokesman Major Anthony Lowery, “At approximately 11 p.m. Baldwin County Sheriff Deputies responded to 20381 County Road 68 in response to a 911 call of a burglary in progress where the suspect had been shot by the home owner.”
Deputies found Andrew “Andy” Buettner of Robertsdale unresponsive on the front porch of the residence.
Despite attempts by paramedics, volunteer firefighters and other rescue personnel, Buettner died at the scene. A Life Flight had also been summoned.
According to Lowery, “Early investigation has revealed that Buettner attempted to force his way into his brother and sister-in-law's residence. David Daniel, the homeowner, shot Buettner in the chest after Buettner moved toward Daniel while making verbal threats. Buettner suffered from a single gunshot wound to the chest from a .45 caliber pistol.”
The BCSO believes that Buettner had gone to the residence to, “find his wife and children.” Buettner’s wife had apparently left him earlier that day to escape domestic violence.
The release added that Buettner had a criminal history related to drugs and violence.
At this time, no charges have been filed against David Daniel. The case will be presented to a Baldwin County Grand Jury for review.
