SPANISH FORT – The 2021 Delta Woods and Water Expo, which had been scheduled for April 22 through 24 has been canceled due to COVID-19 precautions.
The annual event had been planned to be held at the Five Rivers Delta Resource Center on the Causeway. The expo is sponsored each year by Five Rivers and the city of Spanish Fort.
“The committee and the city of Spanish Fort are disappointed to cancel the event this year, but we are using this time to organize the best 2022 programming for our school children. and the Delta Woods and Waters Expo Committee have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 Expo, which was scheduled for April 22- 24, 2021,” committee members said in a statement.
The statement said that organizers decided to cancel the event because school children would not be able to go on field trips to attend the expo this year.
“The purpose of The Delta Woods and Waters Expo is and has always been to educate citizens, particularly youth and children, in the knowledge and value of the environment and wonders of the beautiful Mobile-Tensaw Delta,” the statement said. “Because the Baldwin County School System are unable to take off-campus field trips due to pandemic safety restrictions, the decision has been made to postpone the expo until our school children can take part again.”
Organizers said they are now working to plan the 2022 expo, which is scheduled for April 28-30, 2022.
